How many pieces do I need for my deck?
The SHADOE TRACK fastens to every joist, so the quantity follows directly from the total joist length.
Total all joists in feet — including all rim joists, and doubling up on splice and butt joints — and divide by 8ft = the number of 8ft SHADOE TRACK pieces.
For example: 264ft divided by 8ft = 33 pieces.
Add the total joist length in feet, divide the total by the length of SHADOE TRACK (either 4ft or 8ft), and round the result up to a whole number. If the deck design requires splice or butt joints, double the joist length at each splice or butt joint.
Before you calculate
- Charts are based on 8ft lengths. Double the amount for 4ft lengths.
- Splice and butt joints of deck boards require 1 track on each edge of the joist.
